Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit ..., and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word." - Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), 1213
Congratulations on the birth of your child! What a great joy and gift from God!
Our parish community rejoices with you on this special occasion, and look forward to welcoming your child into the Catholic Church. Our Catholic faith tells us that in Baptism we are incorporated into the community of Christian believers – the mystical Body of Christ. And so, we look forward to providing you and your child that opportunity. The Sacrament of Baptism is the first sacrament which begins initiation into the Christian community.
Greetings to you, sister or brother in Christ, and welcome...
Baptism of adults is provided via the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). The rite focuses on conversion to Christ through the discovery of, and encounter with, the real presence of Jesus Christ in our lives. The RCIA program assists the candidates for baptism in making that discovery. Through the rite, adults are incorporated into the body of Christ provided teaching on the Catholic faith to enable candidates to live an authentic Christian life.
RCIA prepares adults (both unbaptized and already baptized) for full initiation into the Catholic Church and Faith.
